The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 29-year-old man in Kano with 7,000 suspected tramadol capsules.
Spokesman of the command, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, said in a statement on Monday that the suspect was intercepted on Saturday by operatives along the Zaria–Kano Road in the Kwanar Dangora area.
He explained that the drugs, weighing 4.1 kilogrammes, were concealed inside a 20-litre oil jerrycan, describing the seizure as a major breakthrough in the state’s anti-drug campaign.
NDLEA Commander in Kano, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, praised the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to disrupt the supply chain of illicit substances.
He also commended NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd.), for his continued support, stressing that the agency remains committed to ridding Kano State of drug abuse with the cooperation of the public.
