The National Industrial Court sitting in Abuja has issued an interim injunction stopping the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Direct Trucking Company Drivers Association from embarking on any strike action.
Justice E.D. Subilim granted the order on Wednesday following an ex parte application filed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, George Ibrahim, on behalf of Dangote Refinery.
The ruling also bars the unions from compelling other truck drivers to join their planned strike, blocking public roads, or disrupting the operations of Dangote Refinery, MRS Oil Nigeria Limited, and MRS Oil and Gas Company Limited.
Justice Subilim held that failure to grant the injunction could cause irreparable damage to the refinery’s operations.
