Afrobeats superstar Davido has been announced as one of the performers at the 2026 Coachella Festival, further cementing Nigeria’s strong presence on the world’s most iconic music stage.
The multi-award-winning singer will be making his Coachella debut alongside headliners Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and Karol G.
His appearance continues a near-decade tradition of Nigerian acts showcasing Afrobeats and Afrobeat at the festival.
Nigeria’s Coachella story began in 2018, when Wizkid was billed to perform but missed the event due to visa complications, while Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 introduced Afrobeat’s revolutionary sound to the stage.
In 2019, Mr Eazi and Burna Boy followed, with Burna’s fiery set and protest over his name’s font size marking the start of his international breakthrough with African Giant.
The momentum has only grown since. Seun Kuti returned in 2020, CKay lit up the stage in 2022 with Love Nwantiti, and Burna Boy delivered another explosive set in 2023.
The 2024 edition recorded the largest Nigerian lineup yet, with Tems, Wizkid, Spinall, Fireboy, and Teni thrilling global audiences. In 2025, Seun Kuti made a third appearance, joined by Rema’s debut.
Davido’s 2026 debut underscores Afrobeats’ surging demand worldwide, reflecting both booming global streaming numbers and audiences’ appetite for live Nigerian music.
Each successive performance highlights Nigerian music as one of Africa’s most influential cultural exports, resonating far beyond the continent.
