Violence marred the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match between Kano Pillars and Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) on Sunday as angry home fans invaded the pitch and assaulted match officials and players.
The chaos erupted moments after the final whistle at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, following a dramatic late equaliser by 3SC on Sunday,
Pillars had taken the lead in the ninth minute through Mustapha Jibrin, but Adams Mustapha levelled the score deep into stoppage time, sparking outrage among sections of the home supporters.

Videos circulating on social media show fans charging toward the referees, hurling objects and throwing punches.

Some Shooting Stars players and officials were also attacked, with Ismail Ayodele and Adams Agba’a sustaining head injuries.
Security personnel eventually restored order using teargas, allowing the match officials and players to be escorted to safety.
The league management is expected to take disciplinary action following the incident.
