The Lagos State Government on Monday re-arraigned convicted billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, before the Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja over the alleged murder of two police officers.
Evans was re-arraigned alongside his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka, before Justice A. O. Ogala on a five-count charge bordering on murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecution alleged that Evans and his accomplice were responsible for the deaths of the two police officers during a kidnapping operation in Lagos. The case adds to the series of criminal proceedings already pending against the convicted kidnapper.
Evans is currently facing five separate criminal cases relating to kidnapping and murder and has already been convicted in two of those cases. The court adjourned the matter for continuation of trial.
