A 42-year-old man, Emmanuel Egbosimba, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling his 19-year-old daughter.
The order was given by Chief Magistrate L. A. Owolabi of the Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The magistrate did not take the defendant’s plea and directed that he remain in custody until November 17, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
According to the prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, the offence occurred between 2020 and 2025 at the family’s residence on Olusesi Close, Ile Ewe, Ejigbo, Lagos.
Ademigbuji told the court that the defendant began molesting his daughter after his wife’s death and continued for years, threatening to kill her if she exposed him.
The victim eventually reported the abuse to the police, leading to her father’s arrest.
The prosecutor said the offence contravenes Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
