Former presidential candidate and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed deep concern over recent remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump, who described Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.”

In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, Kwankwaso said he was troubled by the tone of Trump’s comments, emphasizing that Nigeria’s challenges stem from criminality, not from religious or ethnic divisions.

“I have noted with increasing concern the heightened pronouncements on Nigeria by President Donald Trump.

“This follows his designation of Nigeria as a ‘country of particular concern.’

“The insecurity we face does not distinguish based on religious, ethnic, or political beliefs,” he said.

The former Kano governor called on the United States to support Nigeria’s fight against insecurity through advanced technological assistance rather than threats that could worsen tensions.

“The United States should assist Nigerian authorities with cutting-edge technology to combat insecurity, instead of issuing warnings that could further divide our nation,” Kwankwaso stated.

He further urged the Nigerian government to engage diplomatically with Washington by appointing seasoned diplomats as special envoys and ensuring that Nigeria’s ambassadors are actively representing the country’s interests abroad.

“The Nigerian government should consider sending special envoys to engage the American government and appoint permanent ambassadors to safeguard Nigeria’s international relations,” he advised.

Kwankwaso also appealed for national unity, reminding citizens that Nigeria’s strength lies in togetherness.

“To my fellow countrymen, this is a crucial moment to promote unity over division.

“God bless Nigeria,” he concluded.
