The Department of State Services (DSS) has successfully rescued a police officer, Ibrahim Muhammad, who spent three months in captivity after being abducted by armed men in Patigi, Kwara State.
Muhammad, attached to the Patigi Division, was kidnapped on August 10, 2025.
Security sources confirmed that he was found abandoned by his captors in a forest and was immediately evacuated by DSS operatives.
The DSS notified the Kwara State Police Command of the rescue at about 5:00 p.m. on November 9. Muhammad has since been handed over to the police and is in stable condition.
“He is being debriefed as part of ongoing investigations,” a security source said.
The police have not disclosed whether any ransom was paid or arrests made, but the command assured that operations are underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
The rescue ends a 90-day ordeal for the officer and brings relief to his family and colleagues.
