Operatives suspected to be from the Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday arrested Ikechi Emenike, a political associate of former President Muhammadu Buhari, at his office in Surulere, Lagos.
According to witnesses, at least six men — some of them armed — arrived at the premises of DER Publications at about 2:30 p.m. and identified themselves as personnel from the DSS office in Shangisha.
They reportedly arrested Emenike without presenting a warrant before moving him into waiting vehicles and driving off.
The DSS has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
Emenike, a prominent Abia politician, is known for his close ties to the former president.
His wife, Uzoma Emenike, served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States during the Buhari administration.
