The Nasarawa State Police Command has debunked a report making the rounds that two pupils of St. Peter’s Academic Rukubi in Doma Local Government Area of the state were kidnapped by bandits.
The command’s spokesman, SP Rahman Nansel, made this known in a statement issued on Friday, November 21, 2025.
“The Command wishes to state unequivocally that the report is false and does not reflect the true state of affairs,” Nansel stated.
Nansel disclosed that the command, at about 10:00 a.m. on Friday, received the report of the alleged abduction of two pupils of St. Peter’s Academy during sporting activities on the school field.
He said the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, promptly deployed police operatives to the area.
He stated: “Upon arrival, it was discovered that the pupils had sighted some hunters carrying Dane guns, and out of fear, fled, mistaking them for kidnappers.

“The area was thoroughly combed, and normalcy was immediately restored.”
Nansel further stated that the school’s proprietor had confirmed to the police that the report was a case of false alarm.
He noted that the police would continue to monitor the area closely to forestall any breach of security.
Nansel, therefore, urged members of the public to disregard the circulated report as a mere rumour unworthy of publication as factual news.
