Thirty-eight victims abducted during an attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, have regained their freedom, the Kwara State Government announced on Sunday.
The abductees were freed on Sunday, November 23.
The freedom came after many days of hard work by security forces.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq confirmed the development in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, describing the release as the outcome of “many days of hard work” by security agencies and government officials.
Abdulrazaq credited President Bola Tinubu for what he called a “hands-on approach,” saying the President personally led efforts to secure the victims’ release.
Tinubu had cancelled his scheduled trip to the G20 meeting in South Africa to focus on security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi states and ordered enhanced security deployments to Kwara.
The Governor expressed gratitude to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police Force, which deployed four tactical teams to the state on the President’s directive.
He also thanked religious leaders, community figures, and residents of Kwara State for their support and solidarity throughout the incident.
