Ten people were abducted on Monday night by armed bandits in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
According to a relative of some of the victims, Kabiru Usman, the attackers struck at about 10 p.m., taking five residents from Biresawa village and another five from nearby Tsundu village.
Victims included women and a 17-year-old girl.
“They came on foot, armed with guns.
“They kidnapped my wife, my daughter, my brother’s wife, and two other women,” Usman said.
He added that villagers attempted to resist but were overpowered.
Residents had reportedly alerted the police and military after receiving prior warnings about the bandits’ approach.
Usman appealed to the government to ensure the safe release of those kidnapped, emphasizing the fear that has gripped the community.
Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the police would verify the incident and provide an official update.
The bandits, believed to be from Katsina State, have stepped up attacks on Kano border communities following a recent peace agreement covering Ingawa, Kankia, and Kusada Local Government Areas in Katsina.
