The Kaduna State Police Command has recovered a sack containing 210 rounds of 7.56mm ammunition along the Zaria–Funtua Highway.
Police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said officers acted on a tip-off from residents who reported that occupants of a black Volkswagen Golf had suspiciously thrown a sack out of their moving vehicle at Dogo Itace in Samaru, Zaria.
A patrol team immediately moved to the scene and discovered the abandoned sack.
The Divisional Police Officer also alerted other divisions along the route up to Funtua in an effort to apprehend the suspects, but the vehicle could not be traced due to the delay in the information received.
Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, urged residents to remain vigilant and report unusual activities.
He added that a manhunt for the suspects is underway and warned criminal elements to steer clear of the state or face the full weight of the law.
