The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office has sealed Yakoyo Abula Joint, a well-known restaurant in Victoria Island, for allegedly discharging untreated wastewater, fats, and oil into public drains.

The enforcement team closed the facility on Tuesday after an inspection revealed that the restaurant was deliberately channeling effluents into drainage systems, leading to blockages and posing risks of waterborne diseases to nearby residents.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the action in a statement on his X handle, noting that the outlet at 134 Sinari Daranijo Street had been polluting the environment through improper waste disposal.

He explained that the closure aligns with the ongoing #ZeroToleranceLagos campaign, which targets food establishments and commercial facilities that violate environmental and wastewater management regulations.
