The former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Bola Oyebamiji, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2026 gubernatorial election in Osun State.
Oyebamiji was adopted as the party’s consensus candidate on Saturday during the APC governorship primary election held at the premises of Ebunoluwa Group of Schools in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.
His emergence followed a motion moved by two fellow aspirants, Kunle Adegoke (SAN) and Senator Babajide Omoworare, calling for his adoption as the party’s flagbearer.

The chairman of the APC governorship primary committee and Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, put the motion to a voice vote, which was overwhelmingly endorsed by party members at the venue.

Okpebholo subsequently declared Oyebamiji as the APC’s governorship candidate, citing the authority vested in him by the party’s leadership.
