The Lagos State Government has cancelled the 2025 edition of the Greater Lagos Fiesta, earlier scheduled to hold on December 31.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Gboyega Akosile, said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu approved the cancellation and directed residents to instead use the period for personal prayers for the nation, the state and the people of Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu encouraged Lagosians to pray for prosperity, peace, leadership, productivity and the general well-being of all residents.
The governor wished citizens a happy and prosperous 2026, expressing optimism that the new year would bring greater progress to Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.
He also appealed to residents to continue to live in peace and harmony.
“On behalf of my family, I wish every resident of our dear State a happy and prosperous new year,” Sanwo-Olu said, adding that his administration would work even harder in 2026 to deliver more development for the state.
