A family narrowly escaped death on Thursday after a mini truck laden with tomatoes lost control and crashed on the Otedola Bridge along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
The accident, which occurred around noon, was reportedly caused by brake failure.
Although several vehicles were damaged in the incident, no fatality was recorded.
Eyewitnesses said the truck veered off its lane and slammed into vehicles plying the bridge, causing panic among motorists and temporarily disrupting traffic flow in the area.
Otedola Bridge is regarded as one of Lagos’ most accident-prone locations, with frequent reports of crashes linked to brake failures, heavy-duty trucks, and structural challenges.
In recent years, the bridge has witnessed several deadly incidents, including tanker explosions, fallen containers, and multiple vehicle collisions.
Last year, a tragic crash involving an Audi car and a truck claimed the lives of three family members, while another incident in April saw a vehicle plunge off the bridge, leaving the driver seriously injured.
Thursday’s crash adds to growing concerns over road safety and the persistent dangers associated with the busy bridge.
