The Super Eagles of Nigeria secured the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after edging the Pharaohs of Egypt 4-2 on penalties in a tightly contested third-place playoff in Casablanca on Saturday.

The encounter at the Stade Mohammed V ended goalless at the end of regulation time, with both sides failing to break the deadlock during the 90 minutes.

Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali emerged as the hero of the shootout, producing crucial saves against Mohamed Salah and Oumar Marmoush to seal victory for the Super Eagles.
