The family of Opral Benson, popularly known as the Iya Oge of Lagos, has declared her missing after she failed to return home.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the family said Benson was last seen on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, and has not returned home since then, with all efforts to reach her proving unsuccessful.

The family described the development as urgent and appealed to the public for help in tracing her whereabouts.

The family stated: “Mama Opral Benson has been missing since Tuesday, January 13, 2026. She has not returned home and her current whereabouts are unknown.

“Anyone who has seen her, or has any information, no matter how small, is urged to contact us immediately.

Born on February 7, 1935, Benson is an American-Liberian and Nigerian businesswoman and social figure who holds the traditional title of Iya Oge of Lagos.

She was married to the late T.O.S. Benson and has built a career across education, fashion, and corporate management.

A former university administrator, she currently runs a fashion and beauty academy in Lagos and previously served on the board of Johnson’s Products Nigeria. In 2012, she was named Liberia’s honorary consul in Lagos.
