ACPs, Senior police officers, PSC CPs AIGs

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of one Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), two Commissioners of Police (CPs), and over 26,000 Inspectors.

The PSC approved the elevation of the police officers at its third plenary meeting held on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

The commission ratified the promotion of AIG Funsho Adegboye to Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG).

Commissioners of Police Danjuma Aboki and Dansabo Idi were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

Their promotions, according to PSC spokesperson Torty Kalu, followed a rigorous and merit-based process, including successful written examinations and oral interviews conducted by the commission.

Kalu noted that the PSC also approved the promotion of 26,119 Inspectors to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police II (ASP II).

“This promotion is based on their outstanding performance in the recently concluded Departmental Selection Board Examination,” Kalu stated.

DIG Adegboye, until his elevation, served as the AIG in charge of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Force Headquarters, Abuja, while AIG Aboki was, until now, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Police Command.

AIG Idi, prior to his promotion, served as the Acting AIG in charge of Research and Planning, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), while congratulating the newly promoted officers, reaffirmed the PSC’s unwavering commitment to transparency, meritocracy, and best practices in all appointment and promotion processes.
