The Osun State Police Command has arrested four persons, including an Imam, over the alleged death of a yet-to-be-identified man in Osogbo, the state capital.
It was gathered that the man went to the Ogo-Oluwa Mosque in Osogbo for early morning prayers on Friday, but allegedly launched an attack on the Imam mid-service.
The congregants were said to have prevented him from injuring the Imam, overpowered him, and beat him up.
The Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident via a statement issued on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
Ojelabi said the police got reports that a man was beaten around a mosque in Osogbo on Friday and quickly dispatched officers to the scene.

Ojelabi stated that when police officers got to the scene, they found the man unconscious, with bruises all over his body indicating that he was beaten.
He said: “The officers quickly took the victim to the nearest hospital, which is Jaleyemi Hospital, Osogbo.
“It was at the hospital that they confirmed the victim dead.
“Thereafter, the police returned to the scene and arrested four persons, including the Imam of the Ogo-Oluwa mosque, where the victim was discovered.
“Investigation is, however, ongoing to really unravel what really happened.”.
