Troops attached to the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Chabbal under Operation HADIN KAI have intercepted a vehicle allegedly transporting logistics for the Islamic State West Africa Province along the Maiduguri–Gubio supply corridor.
According to security sources, the troops were carrying out routine checkpoint and search operations at about 8:30 a.m. on February 26 when they stopped a Toyota pickup truck on the route.
A search of the vehicle uncovered several items concealed beneath wooden planks, including large textile fabrics believed to be used by insurgents, 20 Hilux tyre tubes, motorcycle spare parts, 10 cutlasses, and three mobile phones. The tyres were also suspected to be part of the group’s logistics chain.
Three male occupants of the vehicle were arrested. They were handed over alongside the recovered materials to the 7 Mechanised Infantry Brigade for further investigation and intelligence gathering.
Security sources noted that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the military to disrupt insurgent supply networks and reduce terrorist activities across the North East, as reported by Zagazola Makama.
