A 30-year-old officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Wofai Akpama, has been found dead at his residence in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.
It was gathered that the NIS officer was found dead in his room on Friday, February 27, 2026.
A resident of the area, Joy Benson, disclosed to journalists on Tuesday that she reported the incident to the police on Friday, adding that police operatives visited the scene.

It was further learnt that no visible marks of violence were found on the body and that no foul play was initially suspected.
The corpse was later evacuated to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
The Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, confirmed the NIS officer’s death, adding that an investigation into the incident has since commenced.
