The Kano State Government has confirmed the rescue of the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Council, Alhaji Hamza Durya, who was abducted from his residence in Durya village, Kibiya LGA.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the government disclosed that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Kano State Command, successfully freed the victim during a coordinated operation.

Two suspected kidnappers were arrested in the process, both sustaining gunshot injuries as security agents engaged them.

The government described the development as a major breakthrough and praised the professionalism and swift response of the DSS and other security agencies. According to the statement, the rescue underscores the effectiveness of the state’s ongoing security strategies across all 44 local government areas.

Waiya also credited Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for providing security agencies with the necessary support and resources, which he said has significantly boosted their operational capacity.

Reassuring residents of the government’s continued commitment to peace and security, the Commissioner urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to security agencies.

“Such cooperation is vital in strengthening the overall security architecture of the State,” the statement noted.

The government reiterated its determination to work closely with security operatives and stakeholders to ensure that Kano remains safe and secure for all.
