Troops of Sector 1 under Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have apprehended a suspected human trafficker and rescued six victims during a coordinated operation in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to a military source, the operation was launched after troops received credible intelligence indicating that a network of human traffickers was operating within the Alaide community.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the troops moved into the area at about 7:40 a.m. on March 26 and carried out a precise and targeted raid.
“During the operation, troops apprehended one suspected human trafficker and successfully rescued six victims,” the source confirmed.
The rescued individuals were immediately handed over to the Nigeria Police, Alaide Division, for further investigation and appropriate actions, while efforts to uncover and dismantle the wider trafficking network are ongoing.
