The African Democratic Congress has elected Abdullahi Maikano Tarauni, a loyalist of former Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as its new Kano State chairman during the party’s state congress on Sunday.
The congress, which also produced a full slate of new executives, saw Ali Datti Yako from Kiru elected as deputy chairman, alongside Ali Shettima (Nassarawa LGA), Bashir Kofa (Bebeji LGA), and Bello Yandadi (Ghari LGA) as first, second, and third deputy chairmen respectively.
Bala Muhammad Inuwa from Takai LGA was elected secretary, with Haruna Rogo from Rogo LGA as his assistant.
Abba Muktar from Danbatta was named treasurer, while Balarabe Sarki from Bichi LGA will serve as assistant treasurer.
Other key officials include Prof. Salis Muhammad as financial secretary, Shehu Kabo as publicity secretary, and Muhammad Yahaya from Kura LGA as legal adviser, with Tahir Ibrahim Yakasai as his deputy.
Sunusi Surajo from Madobi LGA emerged as organising secretary, while Farida Kamba from Ungoggo LGA and Hauwa Awaisu from Shanono LGA were named women leader and deputy women leader respectively.
Sunusi Oscar from Fagge LGA was elected youth leader, with Mustapha Bala Getso from Gwarzo LGA named Chief Whip.
The election forms part of the ADC’s ongoing nationwide congresses ahead of its national convention, as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
