Noah Okafor scored two goals as Leeds United took a huge step towards Premier League survival by beating Manchester United 2-1 in a thrilling game at Old Trafford on Monday.
Okafor scored twice in the first half to send Leeds on their way to a first league win at Old Trafford since 1981 and United’s problems worsened after the break when Lisandro Martinez was given a red card for pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair.
Brazilian midfielder Casemiro pulled a goal back with a header in the 69th minute, but Leeds keeper Karl Darlow pulled off a string of fine saves as his side put in an enormous defensive effort to ensure that they emerged with the victory.
The result marks Michael Carrick’s first home defeat in charge of United.

United remain third in the table on 55 points, ahead of Aston Villa on goal difference, while 15th-placed Leeds put some more daylight between them and the teams battling relegation by moving up to 36 points, six ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in 18th.
