President Bola Tinubu is meeting with All Progressives Congress governors at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, in a session whose agenda remained undisclosed as of the time of filing this report.
The meeting, initially scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Council Chamber, commenced about an hour later after the venue was moved to the Conference Room of the President’s Office.
Governors in attendance include Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, Peter Mbah of Enugu State, and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, among others. Some states were represented by their deputy governors.
The Aso Rock session follows an emergency closed-door meeting between Tinubu and the extended leadership of the Senate on Wednesday evening, at which Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele said “far-reaching decisions were taken” on “matters of urgent national importance.”
He said the decisions were triggered by a resolution passed at a closed executive session of the Senate earlier that day.
