The Federal Government has declared Friday, May 1, 2026, a public holiday to mark this year’s International Workers’ Day celebration.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the decision on behalf of the government, congratulating Nigerian workers on the occasion.
He commended workers across the country for their hard work, resilience, and contributions to national development, noting that their efforts remain vital to the nation’s growth and prosperity.
The minister urged workers to embrace patriotism, productivity, and dedication to duty, describing these values as essential for sustainable development.
Tunji-Ojo also reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare, ensuring their security, and creating an enabling environment for economic growth.
While wishing workers a successful celebration, he called on Nigerians to remain peaceful and law-abiding, urging them to reflect on the importance of unity and hard work in nation-building.
