The All Progressives Congress (APC) Critical Stakeholders Forum in Yobe State has endorsed former Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, as its preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The decision was announced in a statement issued after a stakeholders’ meeting held on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the forum described Wali as a seasoned technocrat with the requisite qualifications, patience, and temperament required for effective leadership and governance.
The stakeholders noted that Wali’s long-standing involvement in successive administrations in the state positions him as a strong candidate capable of sustaining the state’s development agenda and ensuring continuity of its policies and programmes.
The forum also reiterated its earlier resolution to adopt the consensus method in selecting candidates for elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In addition, the stakeholders endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on the outcome of the meeting, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, and Chairman of the State Stakeholders’ Forum, Ibrahim Gaidam, said the party would continue to prioritise dialogue and consultation to strengthen unity within its ranks.
The statement, signed by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, emphasised the party’s commitment to cohesion as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
