Leaders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress are holding a meeting with Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in Abuja, in what appears to be ongoing consultations ahead of a possible defection.
The meeting, according to sources, is being attended by the party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas, and its National Leader, Seriake Dickson.
Obi and Kwankwaso, who placed third and fourth respectively in the last presidential election, are reportedly considering their next political moves following developments within the African Democratic Congress.
Both politicians had been part of a broader opposition coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu.
However, internal disputes within the ADC and a directive by the Supreme Court to refer the party’s leadership crisis to the Federal High Court have cast uncertainty over their continued stay.
While both men have acknowledged holding talks with the NDC, Obi has confirmed that he has exited the ADC.
Kwankwaso, on his part, has yet to formally announce his next move, urging his supporters to await further direction.
The meeting is seen as a significant step in ongoing political realignments ahead of future electoral contests.
