The bank described the appointment as a strategic move to ensure continuity and stability on the Board, while sustaining the corporate governance standards and regulatory compliance for which it is known.
Bello, who joined the Zenith Bank Board on December 29, 2017, previously served on the Board Audit and Compliance Committee, the Board Governance, Nomination and Remuneration Committee, and as Chairman of the Board Risk Management Committee before his elevation to the top position.

He later served as Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission from November 2003 to February 2014, where he was instrumental in attracting foreign direct investment and building multilateral and bilateral partnerships for the Federal Government.
