Relief swept through the legal community and among family members on Sunday after missing lawyer and National Youth Service Corps member, Eunice Ameh, was found safe days after she was declared missing in Abuja.
Sources close to the family confirmed that Ameh was found unharmed on Sunday morning after days of uncertainty surrounding her disappearance.
“She has been found unharmed this morning,” a family source disclosed.
The circumstances surrounding her disappearance and eventual discovery had yet to be officially disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
Ameh was last seen on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, after leaving work in Abuja. Her disappearance had sparked widespread concern among colleagues, friends and members of the legal profession.
The development came hours after the Nigerian Bar Association publicly called for her immediate release and urged security agencies to intensify efforts to secure her safe return.
In a statement titled “Release Eunice Ameh Now!”, NBA President Afam Osigwe described the incident as deeply disturbing to the legal community.
“When a young lawyer goes missing, the pain is not distant to the Nigerian Bar Association — it is personal,” the statement read.
“We are more than a professional body; we are a community bound by shared sacrifice, shared dreams and a collective duty to stand for one another.”
The association noted that Ameh, who was serving in the Federal Capital Territory under the NYSC scheme, disappeared under troubling circumstances after work, triggering anxiety among colleagues and relatives.
“No young Nigerian who answered the call to national service should disappear without an immediate, coordinated and determined response from our security agencies,” the NBA added.
The association also urged the Inspector-General of Police to deploy tactical and intelligence resources toward ensuring her safe recovery and bringing anyone connected to the incident to justice.
Before she was found, family sources disclosed that Ameh had recently started work as a sales manager with Blades and Butchers Ltd, a company located on Lake Chad Crescent, Maitama, Abuja.
According to relatives, she resumed work with the company barely two weeks before she went missing and was also preparing to complete her national service.
“She works at Lake Chad Crescent with the company Blades and Butchers in Maitama. She just started two weeks ago,” a family source had earlier said.
The source added that Ameh was last seen around 5:40pm on Wednesday while heading home toward the junction leading to Life Camp, where she lived in a corps members’ lodge.
The matter was later reported to the police through the Maitama Police Division, while the National Youth Service Corps authorities were also notified.
Before news of her recovery emerged, relatives had described the situation as traumatic and emotionally devastating as they waited for updates on her whereabouts.
