The former senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Ben Murray-Bruce, says he has not been disqualified by the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s senatorial primary election.
Murray-Bruce was included in the 47-man list of senatorial aspirants not cleared to participate in the APC’s Senate primary elections slated for Monday, May 18, 2026.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, in a statement accompanying the list, said the screening exercise was conducted by the party’s screening committees in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
Reacting to the development, Murray-Bruce said he had neither withdrawn nor been disqualified from the senatorial race.

The former senator wrote on X: “This report is fallacious. I was surprised to see it on your platform. It prompted me to call the Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, to find out why you would report such a state of affairs.
“I have neither withdrawn nor been disqualified.
“These are very fluid times, and it would be in the best interest of journalistic excellence to exercise caution and verification, rather than utilise speed in your reportage.
“May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
