Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State have cautioned members and supporters against complacency ahead of the June 20 governorship election, urging them to intensify grassroots mobilization to secure victory for the party.
The charge was given on Saturday during a meeting of party leaders and stakeholders held at the residence of former Ekiti State Governor, Niyi Adebayo, in Iyin-Ekiti.
Addressing the gathering, Adebayo warned that the widespread belief that the APC had already won the election should not make members relax, stressing that victory could only be guaranteed through hard work, commitment and effective mobilization across the state.

He urged party leaders and members to return to their communities and wards to carry out their responsibilities, insisting that significant work remained to ensure the party’s success at the polls.
The former governor described Governor Biodun Oyebanji as a good product who has delivered quality governance to the people of Ekiti State and charged members to work tirelessly to secure an overwhelming victory for the APC.
Also speaking, Chairman of the APC Campaign Council and Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, thanked the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him and urged party faithful to approach the election with confidence rather than fear.
Bamidele said Governor Oyebanji enjoys widespread acceptance across the state but cautioned against taking anything for granted, urging members to reach out to actual voters and work diligently to ensure victory.
In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji appreciated party leaders and members for their commitment and sacrifices toward the election, urging them to sustain the momentum and continue mobilising support at the grassroots.
The governor said the election was crucial for both Ekiti State and the APC, adding that a decisive victory would be a way of appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and goodwill towards the state.
Oyebanji expressed confidence that the APC would record a resounding victory and urged members to embrace and accommodate everyone willing to contribute to the party’s success, regardless of political affiliation.
He added that developments across the state in recent weeks indicated that the people of Ekiti were prepared for the election and reiterated the party’s target of securing 500,000 votes.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor Monisade Christianah Afuye, Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Adeoye Aribasoye, members of the National and State Assemblies, members of the State Executive Council, former deputy governors, local government chairmen and other party stakeholders.
