A suspected looter has died after collapsing while attempting to flee from security operatives following his arrest in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.
The incident reportedly occurred around 1:45 a.m. on June 25 when troops of the 3 Battalion (Mechanised) under the 24 Task Force Brigade, supported by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), detected suspicious movement around the Junior Quarters in Ngala through closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance.
According to security sources, the operatives responded to the alert and apprehended the suspect, who was allegedly caught looting goods from a stranded vehicle.
The sources said the suspect attempted to escape while being escorted into custody but suddenly collapsed during the chase.
He was rushed to the General Hospital in Ngala, where medical personnel confirmed him dead.

A preliminary medical examination reportedly attributed the death to cardiac arrest, which was suspected to have been triggered by an overdose of illicit drugs.
Security personnel also recovered quantities of tramadol and flurazepam from the deceased during a search, according to the sources.
The incident has been reported to the Nigeria Police in Ngala for further investigation.
