Former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun has thrown his weight behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi, for the 2027 gubernatorial election in the state.
Speaking after a close door meeting between the candidate and other leaders of the party in his Ibara GRA residence, Amosun said with the visit of Yayi to his house and being the candidate of the APC, he has no choice but to fully support him in the gubernatorial race.
“With this visit, we are now one united family. Virtually all the leaders that came with you are my people. The senator is our party’s candidate and all must support him to win the general election,” he stated.
Amosun added that the storm of the primaries and rivalries are over and a new dawn beckons in Ogun State, stressing that there is every need now to carry the grassroots along not only for election but for development initiatives.

Speaking earlier on the purpose of his visit, Yayi said he came specifically to thank Amosun for his contribution to state and national development “which are visible for all to see” as well as to show appreciation for the former governor’s support for his emergence as the consensus candidate of the APC.
The chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations apologised for any act that may have offended the former governor, adding that he seeks his understanding and support as the state move to a new cycle of election.
The senator was accompanied APC leaders and other stakeholders.
