The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has expelled two students over alleged involvement in same-sex conduct and rusticated four others for one academic session for fighting.
The disciplinary actions were approved at the university’s 31st Regular Senate Meeting held at the Faculty of Law Lecture Theatre after the Senate considered recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the university’s Information, Public Relations and Protocol Unit.
According to the statement, letters conveying the sanctions were signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Eli Usman Gbadafu, in line with the provisions of the institution’s Students’ Handbook, Second Edition, as amended in 2025.
The university said the two students expelled over alleged same-sex conduct are Onumoko Hamza of the Department of Biology Education and Abdulazeez Lukman Eneji of the Department of Mining Engineering.
It added that four students were rusticated for one academic session over their involvement in fighting on campus.
The affected students are Favor Akowe of the Department of Microbiology, Simbiat Babamuharuna of the Department of Biology, and Zainab Salami Omayoza and Sukura Bukola, both of the Department of Biochemistry.
The management reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline, order and a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
It warned that it would continue to take disciplinary action against any student found to have violated the university’s rules and regulations.
The university also urged students to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook and conduct themselves in accordance with the institution’s regulations.
