The Kwara State Government has announced the release of residents abducted during the February attacks on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by Olayinka Fafoluyi, media aide to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in a post on Facebook.
“Breaking: Woro Kidnap Victims Regain Freedom. Alhamdulillah, and kudos to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the security forces, and everyone who played a role in this huge feat. We are grateful,” Fafoluyi wrote.
The victims were kidnapped on February 3, 2026, after bandits carried out coordinated assaults on Woro, Nuku and nearby communities in Kaiama LGA.

The attacks left at least 75 people dead, displaced scores of residents, and caused widespread destruction across the affected communities.
While the government and security agencies have not disclosed the exact number of those freed, reports revealed that about 170 women, children, and other residents were abducted during the attacks.
The state government did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the victims’ release.
