The management of the Federal University Dutse (FUD) in Jigawa State has expelled 11 students and rusticated 23 others over their involvement in examination malpractice.
The FUD Director of Public Affairs, Abdullahi Yahaya-Bello, made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
Yahaya-Bello said the decision was taken at the university’s 76th Regular Senate Meeting held on July 30, after consideration of the 18th Report of the Senate Committee on Examinations and Related Misconduct.
Yahaya-Bello said the senate approved the recommendations of the committee after reviewing cases involving students from various faculties and departments.
According to him, the sanctions are imposed in line with the university’s regulations governing examinations and students’ conduct.
He said the 23 students rusticated would miss two academic semesters, while three students received warning letters.
Yahaya-Bello said one student was exonerated after the allegation against him was not established by the committee.

Yahay-Bello stated: “The rusticated students are to remain out of the university for the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session and the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic session.
“They are expected to resume their studies in the second semester of the 2026/2027 academic session.”
Yahaya-Bello said the affected students were drawn from faculties including Computing, Science, Education, Management Sciences, Agriculture, and Social Sciences.
He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to maintaining academic integrity and enforcing disciplinary measures against examination malpractice.
The FUD spokesman said: “The university remains committed to upholding discipline, transparency and high academic standards.
“Examination malpractice will continue to attract appropriate sanctions, in accordance with the institution’s rules and regulations.”
