The fiancé of late Nollywood actress, Temitope Osoba, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, has alleged that the actress died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State, contrary to reports linking her death to complications from breast cancer.
Onadeko made the claim in an interview with the Celestial Reality Check, the media investigative unit of the Celestial Church of Christ, on Saturday.
The prophet, however, said he did not know the specific police station where Osoba allegedly died, explaining that he reported himself at a nearby station after receiving a call informing him of her death.
“It was a random person that called me around 12 am that she died in a police station in Ikorodu,” he said.
Onadeko, who is the Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Onibuore Cathedral in the Bogije area of Ibeju-Lekki, said Osoba had gone to visit one Mrs Kehinde Osoba shortly before her death.
He said the actress was accompanied by a hairdresser who had been staying with her and that they remained in communication before he received news of her death.
According to him, Osoba had previously battled breast cancer and undergone surgery but insisted that the illness was not responsible for her death.
“When I first met her, after I did a redemption prayer for her, she told me she wants to do a surgery on cancer. I prayed for her,” he said.
Onadeko also denied allegations that he had access to funds raised for Osoba’s cancer treatment or diverted the money to develop his church.
He said donations made to the actress were paid into her account and that he never had access to the funds.
The prophet also dismissed claims that Osoba was prevented from using her car, saying she drove herself when she travelled to Iperu shortly before her death.
“She drove the car out herself. She was going to Iperu one Sunday,” he said.
Onadeko further denied allegations that Osoba suffered maltreatment while living with him or his family, including claims that she was subjected to degrading treatment over alleged theft.
He said the actress had not been subjected to any form of duress and maintained that they had shared financial responsibilities during their relationship.
The prophet also disclosed that Osoba struggled with smoking and said he had encouraged her to quit the habit.
He equally dismissed claims that the actress died after consuming poison, adding that she had left the church about three weeks before her death.
Onadeko said he contacted one of Osoba’s uncles, identified as Taiwo, after learning of her death but was told that the family did not want to speak with him.
Osoba, who was 40, died on Wednesday. She had previously spoken publicly about her battle with breast cancer, including her treatment and surgery.
She was scheduled to be buried on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State.
However, the claims made by Onadeko about the circumstances of Osoba’s death could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report. The exact cause and circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear.
