The Lagos State University (LASU) has concluded arrangements to graduate 20,604 students at the institution’s 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremonies for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic sessions.
The LASU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, disclosed this at a news conference held at the university’s main campus, Ojo, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
Olatunji-Bello said the convocation would be historic as it would reflect the university’s commitment to academic stability, institutional resilience, and continuous advancement.
Olatunji-Bello added that the ceremonies would be her final as vice-chancellor of LASU.
“For the 2024-2025 academic session, 947 students graduated from diploma programmes,” she said.
The VC disclosed that 65 of the students made distinction, while 521 graduated with upper credit and 354, lower credit, and seven with pass.
Olatunji-Bello added: “7,621 students graduated from first-degree programmes during the session, including 262 first-class graduates and 106 unclassified MBBS-BDS graduates.
“The first-degree graduates comprised 3,155 second-class upper, 3,439 second-class lower, 622 third class, and 37 pass graduates.”
Olatunji-Bello revealed that Ayilara Olawale of the Department of Project Management emerged the overall best graduating student for the 2024-2025 session, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.96.
She said: “For 2025-2026, 44 students graduated from diploma programmes, comprising 33 upper-credit and 11 lower-credit graduates.
“The university recorded 8,653 first-degree graduates during the session, including 232 first-class graduates.
“The figure also comprised 3,545 second-class upper, 4,157 second-class lower, 678 third-class, and 31 pass graduates.”

The LASU VC said Adebanjo Samuel of the Department of Aerospace Engineering emerged the overall best graduating student for the 2025-2026 session, with a CGPA of 4.97.
Olatunji-Bello disclosed that 3,383 postgraduate students would also graduate across the two academic sessions.
Olatunji-Bello said postgraduate graduands comprised 618 postgraduate diploma, 1,508 academic master’s, and 900 professional master’s.
“Others are 238 Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) graduates and 119 professional doctoral graduates,” she stated.
The LASU vice-chancellor congratulated the graduands and commended their parents, guardians, lecturers, and staff for contributing to their academic achievements.
