Manchester City midfielder Rodri has attracted attention off the pitch after choosing to fly on a commercial Ryanair flight from Madrid to Liverpool in the United Kingdom, a rare move for a footballer of his stature.

The reigning FIFA Club World Cup Player of the Tournament was spotted boarding the airline on Thursday night as he returned to England, with his destination being Manchester.

The development comes amid ongoing speculation over Barcelona’s interest in the Spanish midfielder.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed that discussions between the Catalan club and Rodri’s camp are continuing, even as the player makes his way back to England.

Sharing the player’s pictures at the airport, Romano wrote on X: “🛩️🇬🇧 Rodri, flying back to Manchester from Madrid while talks with Barcelona continue.

“World Cup Player of the Tournament, tonight boarding on Ryanair flight to Liverpool. ✈️”

While many elite footballers are known for travelling by private jet, Rodri’s decision to use a commercial flight has generated reactions on social media, with fans praising the 30-year-old for his modest lifestyle.

“Classy .. some of our ‘elite’ could take that as an example of how to present one self in public,” Mark Reinalda wrote.

“Rodri and Bernardo Silva leaving Manchester city in the same transfer window will be a complete disaster. The new Team’s midfield will take years to get back to its feet!” Victor Atem stated.
