Zenith Bank Plc is set to host the 10th edition of its International Trade Seminar on Non-Oil Export on August 25, bringing together policymakers, regulators, exporters, manufacturers, investors and other stakeholders to explore ways of expanding Nigeria’s non-oil export sector.

The virtual seminar, themed “Unlocking Value and Harnessing Growth in Non-Oil Export,” will focus on strategies for moving Nigeria beyond the export of raw commodities by developing competitive value chains, expanding access to international markets and improving trade infrastructure and export financing.

The event will feature the Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, Wamkele Mene; Chief Executive Officer of Plot Enterprise Ghana Limited, Patricia Poku-Diaby; and former President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), Benedict Oramah.

The seminar will also feature two panel discussions involving senior officials from the public and private sectors.

The public-sector panel will include the Managing Director of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM Bank), Abba Bello; Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi; Director of Trade and Exchange at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Aderinola Shonekan; Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Aisha Rimi; and Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Nonye Ayeni.

The private-sector panel will feature representatives from Starlink Global & Ideal Limited, Dangote Group, 3T Impex Trade Centre, Terra Aqua Environmental Consultancy Nigeria Limited, RMM Global and Lelook Nigeria Limited.

Discussions will focus on trade facilitation, export financing, customs and port efficiency, regulation, market access and ways of improving the competitiveness of Nigerian businesses in regional and international markets.

A major area of discussion will be the AfCFTA and its potential to provide Nigerian businesses with access to a continental market of more than one billion people.

Participants are expected to examine how Nigerian enterprises can take advantage of regional integration to develop competitive value chains, expand exports and increase Nigeria’s share of intra-African trade.

Zenith Bank said the seminar forms part of its continued efforts to promote trade and economic development and support businesses seeking to expand their participation in regional and international commerce.

The bank has also partnered with the AfCFTA Secretariat on initiatives aimed at facilitating cross-border trade and improving access to business opportunities across Africa.

Now in its 10th edition, the International Trade Seminar has become a platform for dialogue among government agencies, regulators, businesses and financial institutions on challenges and opportunities within Nigeria’s trade and export ecosystem.

The 2026 edition will be held virtually and streamed across Zoom, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X and TikTok, allowing participants from Nigeria and other parts of the world to follow the discussions.
