The Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Chiamaka Nnake, has clarified her involvement with the purported Made-in-Nigeria Office, which was recently exposed as a fake federal agency.

Nnake said she was nominated by the Anambra State Government as the state’s focal person after the office, which claimed to operate under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, requested the appointment of representatives across the 36 states.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Nnake said the state received a letter from the office in January 2026 requesting the nomination of a focal person, following which Governor Chukwuma Soludo nominated her in February.

She explained that focal persons from the 36 states subsequently operated a WhatsApp group where they discussed activities linked to the purported office.

According to her, the office later requested that Anambra host the South-East Made-in-Nigeria Fair, a proposal approved by the state government.

She said an inaugural meeting was held about two weeks ago with the participation of the purported national coordinator, while a state committee began preparations for the event scheduled for December 2 to 5, 2026.

Nnake, however, said the state government was misled after the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission identified the office as purportedly fake.

She stressed that her involvement was limited to the official interactions surrounding the nomination and preparations for the proposed fair.

“Beyond these official interactions and engagements, I have no knowledge of, involvement in, or connection with any other activities, claims, or developments attributed to the said office,” she said.

She added that anything beyond the engagements she outlined was entirely outside her knowledge and involvement.

The clarification followed reports linking Nnake’s photograph and name to the purported agency, prompting concerns over her role in the activities of the organisation.
