Popular Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Odinaka, widely known as Poco Lee, is expected to appear before a London court on September 15 over an alleged assault case.

The founder of the Community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, Benjamin Kuti, confirmed the development on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby, said Poco Lee is currently being held on remand in the UK pending his next court appearance.

Kuti said he became aware of the case through his regular involvement in supporting Nigerians facing legal proceedings in the United Kingdom.

He wrote on X: “I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison.

“His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing. At this hearing, he will typically enter a plea of either guilty, meaning he admits to the offence, or not guilty, meaning he denies the offence.

“I will also be attending the court proceedings as part of my support for the Nigerian community in the UK, to ensure that our fellow Nigerian receives the appropriate support during this difficult period of his life. Supporting members of our community in situations like this is something I do regularly, including visiting some of our community members who are currently in prison.

“It is important that we allow the legal process to take its course. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”

Speculation about Poco Lee’s alleged detention began circulating on social media on August 19, but initial reports did not identify the complainant or provide details of the alleged incident.

As of the time the reports first emerged, UK police and court authorities had not publicly confirmed the arrest or disclosed whether formal charges had been filed.
