Three people have been killed and five others injured after gunmen invaded Chiromawa community in Garun Malam Local Government Area of Kano State.

The attackers also kidnapped the community’s Sarkin Noma, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa, during the incident late Saturday night.

The attack occurred at about 11pm, according to the Chairman of Garun Malam LGA, Aminu Salisu Kadawa, who confirmed the incident.

Kadawa said the gunmen made their way to the residence of the traditional title holder and began shooting indiscriminately.

He said three people died from the attack, while five others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The council chairman disclosed that he led local government officials to the hospital and remained there overnight to ensure the injured victims received proper medical attention.

He added that security operatives had launched efforts to locate the attackers and rescue the abducted traditional title holder.

Kadawa said the state government would take additional measures to strengthen security in the affected community and prevent similar incidents.

He appealed to residents to remain calm and support security agencies with useful information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible and the safe return of the abducted Sarkin Noma.e
