The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from the 2021 to 2025 admission exercises to November 30, 2026.
The Board said the extension followed the temporary unavailability of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for about 96 hours, which prevented some candidates from accepting or rejecting their admission offers.
JAMB had initially fixed September 30, 2026, as the deadline for the affected candidates.
In a statement signed by its Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Board said the new date was the final deadline for candidates to update their admission status for the affected years.
It warned that candidates who fail to accept or reject their outstanding offers by November 30 would no longer be able to do so within the current window.
According to JAMB, any subsequent request to update an admission record relating to the affected years will attract the applicable penalty fee.
The Board urged candidates whose admissions are not reflected on the matriculation list to take advantage of the extension, noting that properly documented admission records are important for accessing benefits, including participation in the National Youth Service Corps scheme.
JAMB said candidates who accept their offers would be able to print their admission letters, while those who reject them would have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted.”
The Board also clarified that candidates who are no longer studying at institutions where they received previous offers, or who are currently enrolled in different programmes, may accept the outstanding admission and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion where applicable.
It added that candidates currently pursuing a second degree could reject an outstanding admission from an earlier year and continue with their current programme.
JAMB further assured candidates who have secured admission for the 2026 exercise but still have an unaccepted offer from an earlier year that rejecting the previous offer would not affect their 2026 admission.
The Board said the extension would compensate for the period during which CAPS was unavailable and enable it to maintain accurate national admission records.
It reiterated that all outstanding 2021–2025 admission offers that remain neither accepted nor rejected after November 30 will automatically revert to “Not Admitted” on its records.
