The Plateau Vanguard for Democracy (PVD) has commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for commencing the reconstruction of the 41-kilometre Bisichi–Fan–Mangu Halle Road, describing the project as a major link between Plateau State’s three senatorial districts.
PVD National Coordinator, Chris Ishaku, said the road would improve transportation and economic activity across the state by connecting farming communities, markets and other population centres.
Mutfwang flagged off the project at Fan District on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, saying the road had been redesigned from its original specification as a surface-dressed road on a laterite base to a full asphalt road.
Ishaku said the upgrade was significant because of its potential impact on farmers, traders, commuters and residents of rural communities along the corridor.
“The Plateau Vanguard for Democracy welcomes the flag-off of the Bisichi–Fan–Mangu Halle Road. What makes this project particularly important is its strategic relevance in improving connectivity among the three senatorial districts of Plateau State,” he said.
According to him, improved road infrastructure would make it easier for farmers to access markets, while also connecting residents to schools, healthcare facilities and other economic opportunities.
PVD said the project should be considered alongside other road interventions planned or ongoing across the state, including the Foron–Bakin Kogi–Kadunu–Gindiri corridor.
Ishaku also welcomed the governor’s announcement that President Bola Tinubu had approved the Mararaban Jama’a–Mangu–Kanke–Langtang–Shendam–Ibi Road.
He said stronger collaboration between the federal and state governments on critical infrastructure could improve connectivity and economic opportunities for communities across Plateau.
However, PVD urged contractors handling the Bisichi–Fan–Mangu Halle Road to comply with approved specifications and timelines.
“The challenge now is to ensure that the quality promised at the flag-off is delivered on the ground. Plateau people want roads that will endure and continue serving communities for many years,” Ishaku said.
The group also urged communities along the route to cooperate with contractors and government agencies to facilitate the smooth execution of the project.
