The Nigerian Army has graduated a new Special Forces battalion to strengthen counter-terrorism operations and improve its capacity to dismantle terrorist and criminal networks across the country.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, disclosed this on Friday during the graduation ceremony at the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in Doma, Nasarawa State.
Shaibu said the newly graduated battalion would boost the military’s ability to conduct specialised operations, navigate difficult terrain and respond to evolving security threats.
He explained that the expansion of the Army from eight to 12 divisions had created the need for additional specialised capabilities to sustain operational readiness and extend security coverage across Nigeria.
The Army chief said the development was part of efforts to strengthen the military’s capacity to confront terrorism and other criminal activities threatening national security.
